Stick to It
They say that “Prevention is better than cure”, but how can you avoid something that rushes your appetite? It would be difficult to resist danger if we talk about eating food in a stick.
Street foods are most likely sell in sticks. When we talk about sticks, we tend to look what’s with the sticks. Vendors use it for handiness or convenience. With the sticks, worry no more in buying and preparing plastic spoons, forks, cups and styros to place the food.
We often see street foods selling in a stick. Barbecue in a stick is a very popular Traditional Filipino dish. The Filipino’s crave for street foods is the reason why we can see a lot of street vendors selling barbecue in a stick. People who eat street foods find it delicious without any knowledge what danger it brings to their health.
Billions of people eat street food every day. They don’t even know that these foods have found out significant health risks, because the manner of preparing is below food safety standards. The process of unhygienic way of preparing these foods may result to high count of microbial load such as E. coli, S. aureus and salmonella, sources of food poisoning. Food poisoning that can cause to fatal effects or even death to people who are at risk when eating street foods.
Pollutants are everywhere, we need to consider the food we eat especially these foods on sticks. We don’t even know the hazardous effect of these to our health. However, the popularity of street foods is their affordability and convenience, yet, our concerns on cleanliness and freshness should be the reason to resist from eating street foods.
The safety of the street foods should become one of the major concerns of the public health authorities. Hence, people should also be responsible on eating those foods in order to prevent their health from the harmful effects of eating food in a stick.

Leaves especially Mango also known as Margifera indica leaves basically an ordinary thing in nature, yet, have bulky of importance.
Mango leaf, as we all know is only one of the parts of a mango tree, but now we can classify it as medicinal plant or herbal medicine. Study showed that leaf extracts of mango contains some anti-bacterial activity against S aureus. E. coli, P. aeruginosa and provides a basis for its medical use in Uganda.
Young fresh leaves are used in native dishes like “kasui”. The leaves can also be extracted as tea for cough remedy. Tea made from mango leaves with a little honey can also be use for loss of voice. Juices of these leaves can relieve inflammatory on the large intestine which is related to diarrhea.
Some other uses of mango leaves include for scalds and burned medication, which can get into the ashes of burned leaves of mango. Study on the methanolic extract of Mangifera indica (mango) leaves show the inhibitory effect on the DPPIV and present a potential novel approach to diabetes therapy.
Mango leaves prove to have many benefits as antimikrobia, anti-oxidants, and mango leave for diabetes, and can prevent cancer. A tea made from the leaves of mango is also good in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and hypertension. It can be done by soaking the leaves in a cup of water overnight, drained the leaves from the water and drink it. This helps to relieve the symptoms of diabetes.
There are numerous classes of leaves with different uses and different ability to cure simple illness. However, leaves will not be a replacement for medicines; it’s just a natural way to aid simple pain.
By looking at this piece in nature, we’ll never easily discover its significance only with our naked eyes. But, as we search what’s within, we can totally understand that everything have purpose. Even if that’s something is only a piece of leaf.
